Confused

So, perhaps someone can answer me this: I created this blog, put up one post with nothing out of the ordinary in it. No home-grown HTML, no formatted text, and I did not paste anything from another program or from the web, but in its almost naked state, W3C's Markup Validation Service reports that I have 375 errors and 85 warnings!

I don't think I've even written that many words in this blog yet - individual letters maybe, but not words.

Update: After publishing this second post (with that pesky link) I'm now at 387 errors and 97 warnings. That is a 3% increase in errors, and nearly a 13% increase in warnings.

This is absolutely unbelievable. Is blogspot a junior high school wood shop project? As a competent, but admittedly non-expert web designer, I would be ashamed to put out something like this. Obviously Google has much lower standards than I - or anyone I know - does.
